Ongoing Projects in 2007 (contact us for scheduling information)
All through the year, volunteers are recruited to work at various sites in Vietnam on ongoing projects for a minimum of 2 weeks.
There will be episodic visits by physicians from the US, and 1 general surgeon will be spending 1 month in Hanoi.
Volunteers will be supervised by Project Vietnam in-country Program Coordinator and weekly email reports are required with a final report upon completion.
The reports from our volunteers have helped Project Vietnam to gain understanding of local systems and recommend improved guidelines for healthcare in Vietnam.
- Survey and studies in areas of Infection Control & prevalent child health problems such as childhood asthma & school health
-
Monitoring and data collection for model programs such as Newborn care, Emergency care in Hanoi and Phu
Quoc island, and Rural health pilot programs
-
English classes for local physicians at sites with ongoing programs.
Volunteers will reside at identified lodgings, cost estimated $25/day/person excluding airfare + $200 for working
visa. Volunteers are encouraged to raise $500 or more to assist projects in Vietnam.
Besides the trips listed above, Project Vietnam is recruiting medical volunteers (including medical students and residents) to work on other ongoing projects, especially at Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang) and Vinh Phuc provinces. Contact us for more information.
Physicians and healthcare personnel-especially newborn care specialists & pediatricians, engineers, technical people and handymen, volunteers with humanitarian passion.
Knowledge of Vietnamese is not a requisite, and referrals from past participants receive first priority. Early registration is recommended.
Because of the diversity of areas of assistance, volunteers are needed to help the various teams in management tasks, patient relations, supplies control and distribution, support work and translation if Vietnamese-speaking. Because of the absence of resource locally, patient transport, registration, instruction etc. are all done manually and offer opportunities for wonderful interactions with the children and their families. Volunteers with administrative skills are in demand.
